Mouse & pointer test

See exactly which pointer movements, buttons, clicks, and wheel events reach this browser—without storing an input history.

Try movement and every mouse button

Move inside the pad, press left, right, and middle buttons, double-click, and scroll the wheel. The context menu is blocked only inside the test pad.

Finishing saves only an evidence summary in this browser for 7 days for Device Check. Typed text, input order and movement coordinates are not stored. Untried checks are not failures.

Only the test summary is storedMouse events are separated from touch and pen input. Not every device has back/forward buttons.
Test guide

What this test proves—and what it cannot

The mouse test displays pointer events delivered to one focused test surface. It helps separate a button, wheel, movement, browser, or application-specific symptom without installing software or recording a cross-page input history.

Signals measured

  • Pointer movement and browser-relative coordinates inside the test area
  • Primary, secondary, middle, back, and forward button events when exposed
  • Click, double-click, and wheel delta events
  • Browser-reported pointer type such as mouse, pen, or touch

How the test works

  1. Events are observed only inside the visible test pad while this page is open.
  2. The context menu is suppressed inside the pad so the secondary button can be observed.
  3. Finishing saves observed checks and pointer types locally for 7 days for Device Check. A retest replaces this summary.
  4. No pointer path, click target history, or device identifier is uploaded or persisted.

Interpreting the results

SignalWhat it meansNext step
Movement and buttons appearThose events reached this page in the current browser session. If one application fails, inspect its bindings, permissions, overlays, and focus.
One button never appearsThe event may be intercepted, remapped, unsupported, or not produced by the device.Compare another browser, operating-system mouse settings, and another mouse.
Movement skips or stopsWireless link, surface, sensor, cable, power, or system load may contribute.Try a clean surface, wired connection or another port, then compare outside the browser.

Measurement limits

  • Browser event timing is not a calibrated polling-rate or latency measurement.
  • Operating-system gestures and browser shortcuts can intercept side buttons or wheel combinations.
  • A passing test does not inspect the sensor, switch wear, battery, receiver, or cable electrically.

Missing or privacy-reduced detail is not scored as a fault by itself.

Questions about this test

Is this a mouse polling-rate test?

No. Browser scheduling, display refresh, power state, and event coalescing affect delivery. Use manufacturer or specialist tools for calibrated polling analysis.

Does DeviceTriage track where I click on other pages?

No. Only this test pad receives events. Finishing saves a local checklist summary, without coordinates or click history, for 7 days.
