Touchscreen & multi-touch test
Visualize active touch contacts and check how many simultaneous points this browser receives, entirely on this device.
Processed locally in this browserTouch different areas of the screen
Move one or more fingers inside the pad. Each active contact is marked separately; no drawing, coordinates, or movement history is saved.
Finishing saves only an evidence summary in this browser for 7 days for Device Check. Typed text, input order and movement coordinates are not stored. Untried checks are not failures.
A desktop without touch is not faulty. Reported support without actual contacts leaves touch unverified; it does not establish a hardware fault.
What this test proves—and what it cannot
The touchscreen test visualizes active touch pointer events inside a controlled surface. It can reveal missed regions, interrupted movement, or limited simultaneous contacts while keeping every coordinate and gesture on the device.
Last reviewed: 2026-09-03Signals measured
- Touch-down, movement, release, and cancellation events
- Current and maximum simultaneous contacts observed in the pad
- Approximate contact positions within the test surface
- navigator.maxTouchPoints as a browser-reported capability hint
How the test works
- Each active touch pointer receives a temporary numbered marker.
- Pointer capture keeps a contact associated with the pad during movement.
- Touch-action is disabled only on the pad so the page does not scroll during inspection.
- Markers disappear on release or cancellation; no drawing is saved.
Interpreting the results
Measurement limits
- Reported maxTouchPoints is not a calibrated proof of panel capability.
- The browser cannot diagnose digitizer voltage, cable damage, pressure sensitivity, or palm rejection hardware.
- Screen protectors, accessibility features, stylus settings, and edge gestures can change behavior.
Missing or privacy-reduced detail is not scored as a fault by itself.
Questions about this test
Can this test find a dead touch zone?
It can help you observe a repeatable missed area. Confirm it in a native operating-system app before concluding that the digitizer is faulty.
Why does the page not scroll inside the test box?
Scrolling is intentionally disabled only on that surface so finger movement can be inspected. Normal page scrolling remains available outside it.
